I never intended to write Alice’s story but after what happened to her in Hawthorne’s Wife I felt Alice deserved her happy ending. As usual, the path to true love is very bumpy for my heroine, but where I didn’t like Alice much when I wrote Hawthorne’s Wife, I now think she’s the strongest of all the heroines in the series.
